As they peered into the crater, they saw a glimmering object that seemed to pulsate with a strange energy. It was unlike anything they had ever seen before.
“We’ve hit the jackpot, Tommy,” said the tall man, whose name was Jack. “That’s the mineral we’ve been looking for. We’ll be heroes when we bring this back to Earth.”
Tommy nodded, his chubby face beaming with excitement. “Yeah, but how do we get it out of there? It’s pretty deep.”
Jack grinned. “That’s where the Starlight Voyager comes in. We’ll use the tractor beam to pull it up. It’ll be a piece of cake.”
The two men made their way back to the ship, where they set to work on their plan. They fired up the engines and hovered over the crater, positioning the tractor beam directly over the glimmering object.
As they activated the beam, something strange began to happen. The object seemed to resist their efforts, as if it were alive and fighting back.
